I noticed in your profile you have been a member since 2007. Have you been diagnosed with liver cancer before? These lesions must be very small if the MRI was inconclusive. It sounds to me like you are seeing the right doctors. I know it's hard, but try to follow their instructions and wait and see what they find. Waiting is the hardest thing.
I had a liver transplant over 10 months ago when my Hep C finally led to early Cirrhosis and a HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma), which was diagnosed by MRI. I was lucky enough to get on the transplant list and was transplanted in 3 months.
Now, however, the transplant doctors are seeing a very small "mass, shadow, or something" in an area in the back of my new liver that they can't get to to biopsy, and the MRI in not conclusive. It's not showing to be a recurrence of the type of cancer I had in the old liver, but my blood levels have gone up considerably. So I'm waiting for another MRI to be done sometime next month. Like you, I'm concerned, but all I can do is wait. My weight has also gone down the last 3 months. It was still low from the transplant, now it's even lower. I'm 66 years old.
Please let us know if you have found out anything new by now and how you are doing. We do need each other's support here.

I have no news yet. I have not been diagnosed before and hope not to be diagnosed now with liver cancer. There are three masses one on one liver, and two on the other. It was not that the masses were small, it was how they were shaped. They said it was the pattern of them that made it inconclusive as to if it were benign. My appointment with a liver surgeon is the 22 of this month. I have a nephrologist appointment the following month. In the right hepatic lobe is a 7x7mm mass. In the dome posteriorly there is a 1.7x 1.3 mass, and in the left lobe there is a mass 1.5 x1.5 mm. They said The apperance and enhancement pattern of the described three lesions is not definitively benign and while they may represent atypical hemangiomna, possibilities of metatastic disease and hepatic adenomata are not excluded.

A liver biopsy is the only sure way for them to tell if the masses or malignant, if an MRI is nonconclusive. And don't be afraid of a liver biopsy. They are not bad at all. I'm surprised one hasn't been ordered for you already. Keep in touch with us. We all need each other.

Six weeks later nope no biopsy. Went to a liver specialist. He went to look at the MRI but could not read it, too blurry. He ordered the test on CD and ordered blood tests for tumor markers. He said that the chances were 90-95 percent it was benign because my blood was normal and I looked healthy but he won't know until his people read the MRI's and get the blood back. I have not heard a word yet if you can believe this. He said if anything looks suspicious yes he will order the biopsy. Meanwhile I keep having nightmares that the blood markers are normal but the lesions look suspicious so they order a biopsy. In my dream I'm medicated and they go in, and the pain is excruciating but I can't scream and I can't talk or move because I'm too sedated. I wake up screaming.

FINALLY some news today
I have two typical benign hemangiomas and one benign atypical one. They want to watch it with six months scans because the liver can bleed if they grow. Other than that no cancer has been found.
