Hepatic tumors are tumors or growths on or in the liver. These growths can be benign or malignant (cancerous). They may be discovered on medical imaging (even for a different reason than the cancer itself), or may present in patients as an abdominal mass, hepatomegaly, abdominal pain, jaundice, or some other liver dysfunction.

Granddaughter is 18 months old just had a liver transplant yesterday. I will keep people informed as to how it progresses.

Well, I have been offered to have a transplant. Very soon I must give my decision if I agree to have an operation. I am, of course, very, very frighten, confused and I cannot even think straight.I am sure that you do understand how I feel. What bothers me is what if the dark spot in my liver is not really a cancer? Maybe just a growth but not malignant. In doctors' opinion a liver biopsy is out of question because of cirrhosis and perhaps because cancer cells could travel along the needle and spread. At the moment I feel that a cancer treatment would be really appropriate in my case, because while waiting for a liver transplant(perhaps a few months or even longer) it would grow, wouldn't it? However, the cancer treatment was not offered. I don't understand that at all.

I know first hand what one experiences going through liver cancer. I was in and out of the hospital many times and went through several proceedures. Nothing worked... Then I got a call in the hospital at 2:30 in the morning from my doctor saying,"We've got a liver!". My new liver and I will be celebrating our first anniversary together on 11/05/07. Life is good!!
