Life After Divorce Support Group
This community is dedicated to starting over after a divorce. With the marriage over, how do individuals begin a new chapter in their lives and what hurdles do they face? Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.
We shouldnt have to hide a relationship from those who are accepting of us. If we feel that we do, its because the relationship is wrong and we know its wrong and it shouldnt be happening in the first place.
Regardless of the fact that you are estranged from him, it doesnt change that you came from the same grandparents.
I'm not here to lecture you about moral beliefs in romantic relationships, but as you say you have grandchildren I am lead to believe you are an older woman and know what youre doing is inexplicable to your family for a reason.
Flip it around.
If one of your children or grandchildren told you they were in love with their cousin, how would you respond?
Before you re-connect with him, think about:
Is this how HE would handle your future problems?
IS this the kinda communicator that you want in your life?
Do you want someone that runs from problems?
Someone Unable to handle problems?
He Should at least be able to give you some closure to all of this BUT instead he's avoiding you. He can't seem to figure out that if you get some closure then you could move on.
He's sending a loud and clear message about himself.
If this goes on another week, get some counseling.
I went thru the same thing as you (not a cousin) so I quickly got some counseling. After a couple of sessions, I was able to move on.
Saying "I love you" is easy... the strength and exactly what it really means is what's important.
