Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.

One financial mediation,
10 months is the norm from what have i heard when
there are lawyers And courts involved.
Many states have different Rules. Some make you live
separate for so long before even filing, Some you wait
afterward before its final, many are no fault states, some
are fault states. HUGS
We sat down together and had our settlement done in less than a week. He pretty much gave me everything I asked for including tax free alimony. My atty suggested changing to one year separation which would keep me on the ex's insurance longer.
The ex never said he didn't want a divorce but I knew he already had another wife. I will say that was the longest 19 months in my life. Three court hearings and the ex was represented by his atty. The divorce was final Dec 11 of 07 and I had my freedom papers in my hand when I left the court house.
That wasn't the end of my contact with the ex. For some stupid reason he thought he could come back home. Three more court hearings for contempt and it was finally over. If my atty had not put that non modifiable clause in the divorce decree I would have been in trouble. In the end the ex had to sign the farm over to me to stay out of jail. I just know that the ex hates me and I never have to worry about dealing with him again. So did my divorce take the 19 months or the 7 plus years to get him out of my life.? I'm just so very grateful that I was led to the atty I had. Without him I would not have the life I have now.
Personality Disordered ones can be very challenging
Emotionally and legally. Some won't ever let go of the
need to punish you.
Jojo you have an emotionally Immature Passive
aggressive one that has dug his heals in that Does
not want to get divorced and wants you to pay.
Many times revenge Is the motive when they keep
trying to cause trouble during the divorce and some
Times afterward. I am thankful deep down, He had
wanted out and he had a GF already. Not that i liked
either one it just made the actual divorce process easier.
My ex hates my guts because of his financial Consequences
so be it that on him, his actions. His behaviors. TFB, HUGS
Thanks for the replies. Definately a range of experiences here. And pre-nup? Brilliant.
There was a parenting class that is required in Oregon. Our attorney told us about that so we both enrolled as soon as possible so that wouldn't be a hold up. It took 3 months to get enrolled and complete the class. Finally, there was about 2.5 months from when the paperwork was filed and when the court signed off on it. So considering all that, 7 months is pretty quick.
Dan there is no waiting period in my state. We could've been done by last summer.
