Life After Divorce Support Group
This community is dedicated to starting over after a divorce. With the marriage over, how do individuals begin a new chapter in their lives and what hurdles do they face? Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.
I talk to my kids alot about having mixed feelings about everything. About how one day they'll love me (or their dad) to peices, and then next hate us. And that it's OK for them to feel both of those ways, but not OK to express those feelings (bad OR good) in extreme ways.
My ex is a DisneyLand dad too. He's in effect become the grandparent that they don't otherwise have. I've come to be OK with it. He lavishes money and attention on them, then drops them off and goes back to his life.
I'm mom, so I get ALL of the good, bad, and ugly that comes along with it. The plus side is that I really do make every decision that counts for my kids.
I know it's not easy, but I'd work on putting aside your anger at your ex, and focus on the good that there is (and there's got to be Some good).
Hugs.
