I started lying as a child. I could go into all the reasons for that, physical, emotional, and mental abuse, but those days are over. I am an executive with ADHD. I have continued to lie all of my life to cover up things about myself. The problem is that it became habit. All of a sudden, I was telling lies to build myself up or make myself look more favorable in any situation. I also told major lies to get out of doing something that I was really scared about at work, which was a complete lack of self confidence. In the last year, I have lied in order not to hurt my ex and I've lied to my new partner. And as many of us know, it comes to a head. I hurt someone deeply and it was then when I saw their pain that I decided I was out of control.
I recently told the truth about a lot of things to my ex. It was meant with forgiveness, which gave me hope that I can continue down a road of truth telling.
What happens is that I will lie about something stupid (usually about something related to me) and then look back and say, 'Why in the hell did I just do that?'

I started lying as a child as well, although I don't really have any emotional or physical abuse to blame for why. I've always enjoyed telling "stories" to either entertain someone else, or make myself seem more interesting. My partner is aware that I lie and he has met that with knowing and understanding and will periodically ask me if what I'm telling him is the truth, he always forgives me. My lying in my personal life is better I don't do it as frequently it is the lying in my professional life that I find troublesome. I'm a lawyer, and while I know that many think the profession is all about lying it really isn't, it is a profession that should demand honesty. I recently told a lie to get my way in court, and to just tell a good story, and that lie has seemed to have an affect on others as well as it might affect my professional life if I'm caught in it. I really don't want others to be affected but I also don't want to get into professional trouble, so I'm hoping the whole thing will blow over and be chauked up to rumor. It gave me a wakeup call though moving forward I need to stop lying and I don't know why the hell I do it, to make the boring seem more interesting I suppose. It is hard when you have lived a life of lies you have built up, to then change that behavior, but I want to change and I'm taking it one step at a time starting from today. Good luck to you.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
