Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
I'm trying to discuss problems openly with my wife so that she understands the fear I have about letting her down. It's hard because deep down I fear if she really sees me for who I am she'll leave me, but I know now that's just my self-doubt and insecurity kicking in. I love her and I know she loves me so I have to trust her to see all of me and not just the bad parts. We need to remember that our lying doesn't have to define us. It's just one part of who we are. The fact that you're asking for help and wanting to get better shows that.
I now only make promises I know I can keep and that she can support me in achieving. I've searched my soul and tried as best I can to describe the thought processes I go through when I lie. It's still early days, but we can only take it one day at a time. I hope this helps in some way. I dont pretend to have all the answers, but I certainly understand what you're going through. Stay strong, trust in your wife and work on it together. At the end of the day that's what marriage is all about.
