Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
I requested a meeting space on meetingsonline.com last Thursday but they never got back to me and since the date of their copyright listed at the bottom of their webpage is 2010 I'm guessing the site may not be active anymore. They have not answered my email to their support address either.
I briefly checked out Google Hangouts but it appears you have to have a Google+ account. I checked out some other meeting sites but they either were not free or required participants to download some software - neither of which I was too keen on. Finally I can across AnyMeeting.com which is free and completely browser based so no downloads required. In a meeting, we can have up to 6 people with webcam and up to 200 other audio participants. Participants have the option of calling in using their computer's microphone and speaker (VOIP), or there is a telephone number to call in with your phone. The call in phone number is not toll free so normal long distance charges would apply - however many of us have unlimited cell phone calling plans - especially evenings. The only downside is that we have to live with ads on the side of our meeting area but that is not a big deal I don't think - just watch out for them because they may say DOWNLOAD (especially when you first try to join the meeting) but you absolutely do not need to download any software to join this online web meeting!
Sounds like I work for the company doesn't it? I don't, I have just done some research this week. So here is the information for our first meeting:
Liars Anonymous
Thursday, February 13, 2014
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Pacific Time
https://www.anymeeting.com/455-166-819
When you go to this site on Thursday at the meeting time, the webpage will ask you to fill in 3 fields:
1) full name
2) location
3) email address
You don't have to use your name - definitely no last names. It may be helpful if you want to - to use your posting name followed by your first name in parenthesis - something like: lswan662 (Larry), just to make it easier to address each other but it is totally up to you. A location is not required. Some kind of an email address is required but does not have to be a real email address. After you log in it will ask you how you would like to "talk" - using the microphone in your computer or using a telephone. If you select telephone it will give you the phone number to call and the access code.
At this first meeting we can discuss how often we should meet, when we should meet, what the ground rules are, and what format we might want to follow. OK I think that is it! Hope to talk to some of you tomorrow (Thursday).
-Larry
Looking forward to meeting everyone on line and thanks to you pablita for really starting this whole idea a couple of years ago and for your continued support.

First time I called I got a busy signal. I tried again and got connected. Then I entered the access code and it said it was not valid so I tried again and it seemed to take it. I am on the line now.
