Glad to see you found your way to this site. I’m going through something very similar with my wife. I’ve lied to her several times recently and she’s come very close to leaving. This site has really helped me over the last week or so realize that the lying that I do comes from a fear that when I do tell the truth and admit to my shortcomings I might not be good enough for my wife to stay. The reality is that it’s up to her to decide that any way, and the only course of action that even has a chance of her being in my life is honesty and openness, because the option of continuing to lie, hide, and sneak around can only end in mistrust and heartbreak for both of you. We (you and I) both need to really accept that we’re not perfect, we’re going to screw up, and our wives/girlfriends are with us because they chose to be and because they love us. But that doesn’t give us an excuse to manipulate and abuse their trust. Just keep talking with her and explaining to her what you’re thinking and feeling and when she gets angry and upset with you listen to how she feels and truly acknowledge it, because you caused it. She might not like everything you have to say, and you might not like everything she has to say, but talking and expressing yourselves can be very helpful. The good news is that she loves you, or she probably would’ve left already. So you also might have the ability; through time, hard work, determination, and setting yourself up for success, to lessen that pain for her and help yourself be better.
