A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
Hey Everyone,
Recently I was contacted by a research professional who is interested in developing a Mediation Recovery Program for Compulsive Liars and their Loved Ones. Billi Caine has been following our group for sometime and would love to get our feedback on some simple questions about how our disease has affected our lives and how we ended up in recovery. If you all would please take 10 minutes of your time to answer this survey for her research I would really appreciate it.
Billi has been in recovery from all sorts of addictions since 1995 and is a member of six 12 step programs including AA, Alanon, CoDA and NA.
What she needs to know for her research is if you agree with her assessment of where you are/were at rock bottom (if indeed you are at rock bottom) and whether her understanding is correct in relation to whether the 3 states listed below for both Compulsive Liars and their Loved Ones fits where you are at and are in the order they are listed.
Please say whether you agree or disagree with the following:
A. If the 3 states fit with your personal experience
B. Are they in the order I list them (i.e. Which state is more urgent for you?)
C. Have I missed out any other states of being more urgent than these 3?
Please answer each of the 3 questions and write first which category you fit into - Compulsive Liar or loved one (or both where relevant).
Rock Bottom States for Compulsive Liars
1. Your lying is spiraling out of control and you feel engulfed by the consequences of your lying.
2. You have either lost or are in danger of losing a loved one/ significant other.
3. You feel utterly alone as your current support system will crumble if they know the truth. You have nowhere to turn for help.
Rock Bottom States for Loved Ones
1. You feel like you're in the Twilight Zone and going crazy. You are constantly looking for signs etc of lying and question your own sanity and judgement.
2. You wonder "why do they lie and why can't they stop when they know they are about to lose everything?"
3. You need to know "Do they ever recover?" as you don't know whether to stay in the relationship or leave.
Thanks in advance for your participation! I think it's pretty amazing that our group has grown so large that we are finally getting recognition as having a real problem. I believe it will be of vital importance to the progression of our recovery group to be studied and find out as much information about ourselves as we can in the future in order to gain proper recognition to help those with this underestimated disease.

And after speaking with my former and possible future fiance( Loved One), she said, for her the order is; 1/3/2.
I hope this helps.
he's also going to need to add a category for people AFTER they start recovery. Because the states change. You go through almost a grief/denial type thing as well as the depression and self deprecation as you truly start to realize what you have done as you start CoDa and Al Anon.
I would agree with the order for both categories (me being the liar). The three points from the perspective of a "Loved One" are also in order as my wife would attest to. Thanks for putting this out for our feedback!

If anyone (especially those with interested loved ones) would be interested in trial running the product for free once it's developed in the next few months, that would help me fine tune the mediation kit to ensure I have the lying addict psyche boxed off enough.
I just wrote in another post how lying addicts, in my opinion, are the most judged and most misunderstood of all the addictions and I think it is about time that ended. My mediation kit will go a long way to righting that wrong.
