I just joined the group and am in desperate need of this kind of program.

I was searching for a group that has local meetings. Is your group therapy with a "Liars Anonymous" type group (does one like that even exist?)?

I'd really like to find an area locally that actually meets regularly who has issues with lying--that would be great!

Any info you (or anyone) could give would be greatly appreciated!

How did you go about finding group therapy?

Wow that is just what the doctor ordered thank you so much for sharing I've only been at this for a few days and I see that although I'm commited to change the belief of those that I want to be a part of my growth is not coming along I now fear that all they are afraid of that I will harm them. I guess my Question is : Could I of lost the ones I love, and now is it too late. or are they waiting to see if the change is real or just a tempoary condition? Thanks again

First of all Want, congrats on taking the first steps to move past this. And in all honesty I look at it like this, I would love to have the support and love of friends and family, it makes the task seem much less daunting, but, always but :D, you are changing for yourself, to stop for you. So As long as they are still in your life they are in some way giving you the chance to prove to them, some of them may still be up in the air, or confused, or still hurting from it all. But as for them trusting again, only time will do that, as long as you are honest with yourself enough to be honest with others time will heal the wounds, there may be "scars" but at least you will have allowed it to heal. So keep chuggin through, you have made a wonderful start, keep pushing through.

Jobless, I know what you're describing, and noone is perfect, and if you ask me, stopping lying "cold turkey" is all but impossible, since, as you described, alot of lies come to be because of reflex responses. So here's how I've approached that particular problem, when I talk I pay attention to what I'm saying, I make sure that I am trying my best to NOT lie but if, in that moment of reflex, if you do lie or omit pertinant details, etc. I've found that an effect method is, knowing I just lied, telling the truth. Turning around and telling the truth, it's embarrassing but when stopping lying we're all trying to stop a bad habit, and as anyone will say it's always easier to start a bad habit that it is to break it, but given time and patience with yourself break the habit you will, and at the same time you'll build the new habit of an honest reflex. I know reading is completely different from actually doing it but I'm going to tell you, whenever I feel I'm having a weak moment I will turn to friends family and/or here. there is a daily check in discussion board on here that has mountains of good advice, and also provides you with a spot where you will be more likely to positive support, versus demorilizing critisism. Honesty to yourself is a complete must. kep it up and don't give up, it'll be worth it in the end for you.

Outstanding 5 steps. I will implement it today. I am a liar and I am powerless over this addiction to lying and my lying has made my life unmanageable.

I must make amends to several people over my lies mostly my wife.

Any advice for someone who has a problem with saying little lies …….on stupid matters ……pretty honest with the big stuff ironically
