well ryan i don't know what to say seeing that i don't know your mom or dad or best friend and don't know how they would take it. the best advice that i could give to you is that you as my father would always tell me, "test the waters before you enter". meaning that if you should kinda slip things out slowly about being gay with out saying it because if your parents are not accepting of it, they wont reject you. and at the same time if they seem to be accepting and don't care then tell them about it as soon as your ready. this way you wont feel hurt and they won't be hurt. and whether they accept your feelings or not, you are who you are and you shouldn't ever change that for anyone.
from personal experience -- i told my parents and my mom cried at first, not because im gay but because she wanted grandchildren. but my problem now is with my gender identity. i am a male and accept that but tend to act and appear as a female except the fact i have male parts and it really bothers my mom and she took some of my clothes away and yelled at me for shaving my legs. i am currently seeing a counselor for my sexual orientation (gay) and gender identity (feminine) and i find that very helpful.
