I wasn't sure exacrly what language would be acceptable, but I figured you all can figure out what I mean.
I have a real controlling jerk renting a room in my house. He was a decent enough guy and very helpful when he was my next door neighbor. I rented the room vacated by my youngest Son, in August. It's been downhill ever since.
He has taken over my home and infused it with negative energy. He contradicts everything I say...so I find myself being very quiet and mostly living in my bedroom. Even here, I'm not safe from his mouth! He comes to my door...sometimes comes right in and says whatever is on his pea sized brain.
I thought I had a safe way out of this mess after talking with an officer from the probation office who stopped in last week. Roomie wasn't here and the guy was so nice and concerned that I felt comfortable sharing what it's been like in my home. He called this domestic abuse and told me they would come up with a plan to remove him. Then he gave me the number of the probation officer assigned to the case and said he would speak to him, also.
After hearing nothing for several days, I called to speak to roomie's probation officer. I don't know what the prerequisite is for that job, but I can'r believe the man could have met it! The intelligent man I had spoken with at my home, had given him my number so he could be in touch with me...but he lost it. He wasn't quite sure why my roomie was on probation and had to flip through the file while we were on the phone!
THEN...he told me there wasnothing they could do unless roomie threatened or physically harmed me!
He, if he's telling the truth, bullies a lot of people he has contact with. I've heard the way he talks to his children and his former wife and it's criminal!
He's already been a shit to me this morning....my pain level is through the roof from overworking the past few days, anyway and now there's little hope that it will lessen.
Does anyone ever feel like running away from their own home?

Only way to change it is to get him out of your house. Sorry you have this trouble. You are such a great person! Hang in there!
Give him notice that he must find another situation.
probation officers are poorly trained, in my experience and from common hearsay. on the way out of a meeting with one at the tender age of 14 (due to an unfortunate drug possession charge... who cares, it's not like i'm running for president..), i went to the bathroom of juvie on my way out and set all the toilet paper on fire, needless to say, no one ever found out or suspected i had caused the fire....
i was my probation officer's first case, after all and he was doing a really good job!!
get to the brass and see what really is possible.

I told the first man who stopped in that I hadn't given roomie a 30 day notice because of my fear concerning that period of time when I'd still have to share my house with him. I felt like I finally had someone who would step in and handle the situation for me.
Tomorrow morning I have my weekly appt. with my therapist. Last week he insisted that I call roomie's probation officer to find out what plan was being formulated. This week, I'll talk with him about how poorly that went.
It feels like this is a situation of my own doing and I should be strong enough to get out of it, too. My pain level is out of control and that leaves me feeling terribly vulnerable.
I can't tell ya how really sorry I am that your pain is so bad, Cherry...I truly wish there was something I could do to help.......hugs....jc..
