Does anyone else here have problems making connections with other people and making lasting and deep friendships?
Before I came out of the closet and had a very close group of friends. We were so close we were like family. When I came out many turned their back on me. Others just slowly disappeared from my life as I shifted my focus away from hanging out and making stupid choices. I began focusing on college, a career, and my little family.
After sometime has past and I have now attained so much, I look back and realize that the people I had chosen to be in that close circle of friends were terrible, low class, disloyal people.
Now; however, I cannot seem to form bonds with anyone. The few times I've thrown myself out there and tried to connect have been hurtful as usually it just doesn't happen or these people think I'm trying to hit on them or something so they purposely keep their distance (straight girls anyway).
I know trust and the fact I am lesbian so monogomous friendships with women is tricky as i want to get close without them thinking I'm coming on to them is a big part of the issue. but I think it's more than that.
I don't know... That's why I'm here.
Anyone else have this problem or have overcome this problem and have some advice?

Don't think your alone. Im a butch and married. I'm pretty much in the same position. So I just focus on my family and bettering myself as a person. Try finding a hobby. People with the same intrest tend to do similar activities.

I have sailed in the same boat as well. Before I came out had so many friends telling me to be happy and when I did come out and be happy they ditched me. right now I'm at a point I'm social to a certain degree I don't have fiends and I am absolutely fine being alone. I have lots of hobby and enjoy time alone. I'm not sure if u are extrovert as I'm not anymore...but there are social groups out there like MeetUp which will help u make friends and create a social circle. all the best :)

Yes same boat! Our lives can be very isolating. I am in a long-term somewhat co-dependent but very happy relationship but I do need support at times. Perhaps we could all connect as friends here and message each other or set up a small chat email group on FB. Also I agree hobbies are great. I do most of mine with my gf but I should also try to do something of my own but my job is very demanding also. Good luck let's speak on messages!
