So, I have actually been having crushes lately (haven't actually had one for 5 years or so), and I just don't know how to tell if the women I like are gay or not.
So, how do you know if woman is gay?
How do you know if you have a connection?
And how do you know if they like you?
Also, I'm shy with flirting and (even thinking about) asking someone out, so if I don't do the flirting and asking, will I ever go out with anyone? Is it even possible that she (whoever) would ask ME out? Or is that just a fantasy?

There are is so much more available now than back in 1986 pretty much all we here then were a couple of bars and a church. Have you considered an online dating service? Put yourself out there and as to your question "Is it even possible that she (whoever) would ask me out?" YES, they will ask, I was fairly shy about asking a woman out back then, and yet interestingly enough I was indeed asked out, I believe you will be also.
