I've been in a relationship with a woman for a few months and we are having communication problems. I don't know how or what to say to her anymore. Everything I say is used against me; things I say is always taken out of context. I mention I have an issue with something and I get the third degree of questions. And God forbid if I don't follow up on an issue quickly enough, then I hear things like 'you don't love me' and 'you don't care'. And don't get me started about me not showing the right emotions or actions for any topic we're discussing! This leads to arguments and confusion. If you are in a seriously committed relationship, are you not suppose to be there in the good times AND bad times. Anyone have some effective communication exercises on how to talk to the love of your life?
The first year is an important time for couples to get to know each other. This is the phase of the connection that we see if we're 'uniquely compatible above all others'. After all, partnerships should be thee most unique, great fit we ever experience.
The initial feelings of euphoria early on ..eventually fade into a real, down-to-earth connection; and we begin to learn who we're with. Major communication problems at such an early stage are nature's way of throwing us Red Flags - normally alerting us that we're not with the right person for a partnership.
It may be wise to take a little break and think about what's before you. Remember that you need to love yourself ""first and foremost "" so you can see things clearly. Neither you nor she are bad people...at all!!..it's just likely this isn't meant to be a partnership. Not everyone we date is 'thee one'..that's why it's so precious when we DO find that person :O)
