Clearly, if you want a commitment, and she isn't interested...I assume you've discussed it..then you cut her loose and try again.

(Okay, so it's not as easy as that...but the fact is...being in an open relationship isn't for everyone. I'm not sure I could do it...so I wouldn't stay. I'd look for someone who wanted to commit to me.)

Now, something just occurred to me...what if she isn't 'quite' ready? She may just need some more time to be sure. Then you must talk about your feelings and see where it leads. Also depends on how long you've been together.

we both have crushes on eachother. Which we were successfully ignoring till she kissed me. The best kiss ever I swear. When we started hanging out it was as just friends. We both admitted feelings are growing and it scares us. We talked all day yesterday. Thanksgiving and we spent it online and on the on the phone all day. But we both couldn't get away with actually leaving our families. She enjoys the closness we share the cuddling the kissing(which is amazing) but doesn't want to be tied down. Secret is she acts tied down now. I always get called on her lunch break. I always get to talk to her when she gets home at night. If she is going to hang out with a friend she calls and tells me. The only difference is she does it totally on her own and not because she thinks she has to. We both admit there is no one else that has sparked interest in either of us. There has been discussion about feeling to no end. We just don't know what to think about everything. Should I just let things run thier course and see what we evolve into??

To your question- absolutely yes. There is no need for a commitment from someone you just met.

Relax and enjoy the ride. You don't need to be making a huge commitment yet. Date. I know it's not a well-known phenomenon amongst Queer women, but slow down and have some fun getting to know each other.

The biggest mistake you can make is pushing it to fast.

ok will somebody please mail me the owners manual to women. My woman who likes her freedom and doesn't want a commitment goes over to a friends house lastnight for a night of drinking. They get hammered and she calls me to let me know she wishes I was there. As with most drunks she horny and wants me. I talk to her for a couple of hrs until she passes out. She calls today and tells me she behaved and didn't have sex with her friend(a fellow lesbian). She wanted this fact to be known as if we did have commitment....

Commitment is a scary thing...I have had trouble with it myself. However, with patience and understanding from my g/f I have gotten to that commitment point slowly but surely. Perhaps she has had scary past experiences - I know that was the case with me.

She is respecting what you guys have, undefined but something exists. I just started dating after a year, I came out fast and furious, had to learn to pace myself. After 12 years with one person, commitment seemed natural; however everyone is on a different time table. Enjoy the ride, enjoy dating and let everything happen naturally. Trust me I woke up this morning in the arms of someone I almost scared off because I was moving too fast. I cooled my keels and now she is coming to me. Enjoy what's there.
