I don't know what to do.  Or where to start.  

My partner and I have been in a relationship for 8 years.  We have one child together. 

Lately, all we seem to do is argue or miss communicate. I know that she is unhappy where we are (location wise) And I am trying my best to get us out of here. Applying for jobs, that I don't even want to do to get relocated for her, so that she is happy again. 

I took this new job on shortly before our child was born.  And I love it.  But I am starting to wish that I never took it because of what it has caused and the isolation it has created. 

I work shift work so I am gone all hours and sometimes have little family time during the day because I'm often sleeping preparing for work or Recovering from night shift. 

If I am to start work in the early hours of the morning,  I try to go to bed 8 hours before I am to be up.  Which I thought was OK.  But I get comments about what time I'm going to bed.  If I come off night shift, I get woken after 4 to 5 hours sleep and asked if this is all I am going to do all day. 

I get up.  And I have been staying up later before having to work because I am getting selfconcious about whether I am sleeping too much. She chooses to stay up late and can run off less sleep which is fine,  but I have said that I don't like doing that.  

How much do you sleep before work?  Am I wanting too much sleep going to bed 8 hours before I am to be up?  Giving myself time within that frame to fall asleep.

 I come home and wash and get lunch ready for work.  I feel like I have limited time with my child and I am failing as a parent and partner. 

Any suggestions of what I could do? She is a great mother to our child and I would never take that fact away from her.  But I can see she is beginning to resent me.
