Angry, Confused & feeling not good enough
My girlfriend recently returned from a trip visiting her father. The trip was emotionally draining for her since her father was never there for her growing up and continiously lies, to top it off she found out he is doing drugs. She returned late sunday evening and I asked her if we could have dinner together monday after work since we both missed each other so much. She stated she was tired but kept hinting she would rather stay at my house and sleep over. She did this by pointing to a sleep over bag she has in her office. I stayed quiet because a few months ago I had set a boundary in which i expressed that unless we are traveling together I dont want her to sleep over my apartment if my son is there. He still doesnt know we are in a relationship and I just dont feel comfortable with sleepovers if he is there. This is my own parenting choice. That said given the circumstance I told her she could sleep over because it was important for us to spend time together and because I know it was important to her. However, she refused and said she is tired of begging me. I told her all she did was hint by pointing to a bag. She never asked or expressed how she felt but she knows about my boundaries and thats why I am relunctant. My response turned into her saying she feels unloved, unsupported and as if she is not of any importance to me. Everything I express is taken negatively. She says I am twisted things around and she is use to feeling alone in relationships.
Prior to this i thought things were great now i feel so angry, not good enough and as if I cant be myself or express anything. I'm not sure how to approach this.
