Age: 45
Brief Description Of Your Current Life & Happiness Level:
Currently unemployed and seeking work. Single. Taking partial care of elderly mom. Waiting for that special gal. Happiness level I guess would be content to a point...
Overall, how would you describe your twenties?
Fun, busy. Dated a LOT in my very very early 20's and settled into my first LTR (lasted 6 years). I had come out of the closet at about 18 so i was already very comfortable in who I was and what I wanted in relation to a partner.
What were your goals during your twenties?
Work & play. I wanted to be a therapist but a near fatal car accident squashed that. I continued working as a CNA. It was also in my 20's that my first LTR ended and I entered into another which would be a 14 year long one. Also moved across the country in this time. I wanted to continue nursing or get back into school for a therapist but that didn't happen.
What were your primary interests in your twenties?
Working, maintaining my relationship, being a good partner and provider (in all aspects).....and of course...fun :)
What were the three most fun and exciting aspects or events of your twenties?
-Dating, dating and dating in my very early 20's
-My spontaneity, I was never bored and always had something to do for fun
-Working as a CNA...I loved it and loved going to work
What was your first encounter with love?
With my first LTR.....I learned later that, although it had been "love", it was NOT the all encompassing, heart, mind & soul stirring love that one can have.
Has it changed or your perception altered as you have gotten older?
Very much so. I have learned a great deal over the years about love, life and the feelings and views on them.
What have you learned about love?
I have learned that while you can "love" someone, I truly believe there is that "one" who, at whatever time, will come into your life and end up being the love of ones life. They will take your heart, mind and soul into a completely different realm. I believe you will absolutely "know" when this happens. Sadly, I don't believe everyone will have this in their lifetime. I also believe that this person IS your soulmate.
If you could go back to your twenties, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? Do you have any regrets?
Tough question. There are a few things I suppose I would do differently, but then again, those things, if changed, may not have me on the road I am on now, not meeting the same people I have met, etc. I really can't say I would change anything and I have learned not to have regrets.
Do you have any other words of wisdom that you think could be of value to women in their twenties today?
This is tough as well. Each woman is their own person. I guess I would say to follow your heart. Do NOT live your life strictly for others. Don't be ashamed or "hide" who you are...after all, it IS who you are, whether it's brought to the light or kept in the darkness and it's much easier to be yourself freely without constraint.

Age: 54
Brief Description Of Your Current Life & Happiness Level:
Very recently transitioning into a new town; being alone & single after a 12 year partnership. Happiness is relative right now; but I'm normally a wel-adjusted happy person and it's a feeling I'm experiencing more and more every day.
Overall, how would you describe your twenties?
It was my first experience with freedom. I was raised by very strict parents, so I was highly and dangerously adventurous.
I did everything I was not allowed to do as a teenager, and had to learn over and over again the differene between right and wrong. I was very niave, and had -0- self esteem. By the end of that decade I was a much smarter and wiser, all be it quite bruised, woman.
What were your goals during your twenties?
1) To get up every morning after drinking and partying all night and make it to work on time. 2) Finding love and getting laid.
What were your primary interests in your twenties?
Doing whatever necessary to keep my job, hitting bars in the neighborhood and keeping my music up to date.
What were the three most fun and exciting aspects or events of your twenties?
Being very successful at my job and being promoted several times. Traveling on my own. Having some really great friends. Letting go of some major emotional baggage.
What was your first encounter with love?
When I was 15. I was a huge flirt,...although I didn't realize it at the time. I snagged someone quite accidently and this person snagged my heart. It only lasted 9 months, but it was my first experience in a relationship outside my home that involved my heart.
Has it changed or your perception altered as you have gotten older?
My perception on love is completely opposing; simply night and day from my 20's. I've opened my heart many times to many different people throughout my life and have learned so much. I'm probably not done learning, but I'm oceans away from the self-centered, sorrowful, niave little girl I was in my 20's.
What have you learned about love?
It's dimensional; you can love many things and people in many different ways. It's not jealous, controlling, suffocating, or selfish. It learns and grows and is happiest when it's object of focus is happy. It is the purest most beautiful gift anyone on earth can give and recieve. It needs to be fed ~ give/take.. in balance or it will die. Love is unjustly blamed when we feel heartbreak and disapointment when it's actually that we weren't in touch with ourselves, what personality/character we are truly dealing with and our own poor choices.
If you could go back to your twenties, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? Do you have any regrets?
My only ongoing regret is after I graduated High School, I let my parents deter me from joining the Marines. Otherwise, every stupid, crazy thing I did back then made me who I am today.
Do you have any other words of wisdom that you think could be of value to women in their twenties today?
Play, explore, learn, cry, stumble, hurt, feel, change, grow, laugh, bond, love, hate. Be extreme, be lazy, be vulnerable, be kind, be angry, be open.. just flow through it without any expectations. It's thee most difficult and educational decade of your life.
