I have been looking into how I can possibly get my son more help academically since he only has a 504 plan. I was told that since my son has so many pull outs that he should have an IEP however, medically he has not been diagnosed with anything specific, so he was denied an IEP at school. I was also told that the local county should be provide services for my son--no matter what our income level is--does anyone know what website in NY I would look into these services? I have been told over and over again that my son does well in on a one on one setting, but yet he does not get that at school--only in his speech therapy. This year his PT/OT/Reading and Math is a group setting--and I worry that he will not reach his potential being in group settings.

Sorry Sowle, I don't know about the NY info but my son is dx'd w/ AIP as a very high probability& we hv the local school county come out to us 2 x's a week for an 1 1/2-2 hours then leaves instruction w/ him. We had to fill out papers at school & so does our doc but it is a health issue that has a high probability dx's physically. It should not be so hard for you to get his needs met!!! What is AIP? is it Audio Processing? The problem with my son, is his primary dr gave him a dx with ADHD with other dx pending for him to get a 504 . The problem being is my son has exceeded the requirements of his 504 this year and since the meetings are yearly, we have been told he can't have another one until next May. That will be far to late!!!! I am pushing for another one sooner.
