I used to avoid a whole lot of foods that contained candida .. my friends said it was more like "can't eata" .. lol ..
It did calm my tummy down considerably .. but .. it is very limiting ..
Check out the on-line stuff on candida .. you may be amazed to see how often that type of stuff is used in so many foods ..

I have a freind who had bowel problems and went to some nut at a health food store who told her she had candida. She buys tons of pills from him and only his organic foods. She severely limited her diet. (*all while he's making money off of her) And after two years and not getting any better she went to a doctor and found out she had colon cancer. Sad thing is even after the cancer... she still believes this guy and still buys only from him all kinds of pills and powders. He's getting rich and she's sick as a dog. So I am very leary of people who want me to try their "natural" remedies.

I agree with you jackiesbil. it is hard to tell who to trust with this IBS. I am going to a gastro on the 10th and hopefully find out what the real deal is. But some of the products I've bought at the health supplement store have helped and have been worth it.

I've tested positive for Candida as well as bacteria and intestinal parasites in the past. Rather than taking drugs or herbs, I do best just sticking to a fairly low-carb diet. Apprently all these organisms thrive on carbs/sugar. Most doctors said to avoid all dairy, but I can tolerate cheddar and swiss cheese, because those both have 0 grams of lactose/carbs. I also limit grains/starchy foods. Mostly I snack on nuts, cheese, home-made yogurt, veggies, berries, etc.

I love dairy but became lactose intolerant 5 years ago. I am glad to know I can try swiss or cheddar and be ok. I am also sticking to a low carb diet for candida.
