By trial and error and I have discovered that I can eat white flour products without distress. Not so good for the diabetes. I feel like I'm walking a tightrope. When I cook pasta, I rinse it in hot water when it is done cooking. The foods that give me the most trouble is the whole wheat, whole grains.
