Klinefelter's Syndrome Support Group
Klinefelter's syndrome is a condition caused by a chromosome nondisjunction in males; affected individuals have a pair of X sex chromosomes instead of just one, and is associated with additional risk for some medical conditions. XXY males are almost always sterile, and some degree of language impairment may be present.
Yes that's what I have been told, I'm 47, XXY and unusually I don't need T therapy and so it is as far as the medics are concerned, it is as if I don't exist. But there is more to XXY than simply T therapy, much more where what I suffer is being ignored by the medical profession, where I have tried to access psycho sexual counseling on the recommendation of a genetic counselor and been denied twice.
So here I exist unhappy and depressed and yeah single and unemployed where I just can't seem to focus on anything for any useful length of time, where in fact a lot of what I suffer I am told is usually nailed by T therapy but as said I don't qualify for T therapy, so there is something else going on that T therapy just happens to help with or is it the enhancement that T therapy creates makes one forget the low mood stuff?
As to finding out I was XXY, I was elated to find out and that because all through my life I knew something was wrong, yeah the feelings and motivations I had to viciously oppress within my self as hey I was supposed to be male, what was I thinking and then the persistent low mood and depression where no medication seems to cure. I found out I was infertile when I was 23 and when I was married to my first ever girlfriend at age 30 I was biopsied to prove total infertility and it still hurts from time to time, as well infertility kind of changes life's expectations, where it appears there is no societal plan for single infertile males as everything appears focused on families. Where I actually feel like a spare part not fitting in anywhere, certainly not into the male I am supposed to be and not female either despite the thoughts and motivations I have at last allowed since diagnosis.
But it started with being diagnosed with Aspergers at the ripe old age of 40, but I didn't fit in with the aspies either so I researched autism and found X linked theories and hey something called Klinefelter Syndrome which sort of coincided with some other research I was doing as to why would a male have a chest lump which eventually took me to see a GP, a female GP where the lump was diagnosed to be a blocked and infected duct where antibiotics cured that but my suspicions regarding Klinefelter Syndrome were taken seriously after a few questions regards the goolies and knowledge of infertility, where a few months later I was told I was indeed XXY.
Yippee at last something will be done about all that I have suffered, my night and day mare is over, how wrong I was, and so this is it now knowledge of what I am heavily depressed single, unemployed and going nowhere,w here yeah because I have allowed what in the past I viciously oppressed within myself , erm increasingly I am finding I am not wanting to be male, but at the same time the thought of transgender scares the hell out of me.
Oh yeah, I reside in the UK and I am here on the suggestion of a close friend who is not too pleased at the speed at which I am degrading, where my next idea to get the rather useless NHS to pull their finger out is to seek advocacy services as well I'm worn out with all this and can no longer do it on my own and the mind is wandering down increasingly dark roads which used to scare but seem not to anymore.

I have klinefelters and was looking for someone like me.
So it's been about 2 years since y'all last posted. What have you learned or (hopefully) began to understand about KS? What do I have to look forward to?
