A support group for our friends for whatever life throws at us.
Today is the day I call the doctor and start dealing with my medical problems. I have put it off long enough and it's time to just face the music. Just got done sending some notes of encouragement to a woman from another DS group who had to sleep in her car last night in 100 degree heat. This is not the first time this woman has had to deal with homelessness if I recall. It really does put things in a better perspective for me.
carolin, thank you for your comment about barely recognizing me these days. I take that as a compliment. Some days I lose sight of what progress I have made so when someone like you comes along and notices the changes it really does mean a lot.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Yes, sometimes hearing of others problems make our own seem less worrisome. It doesn't mean we should neglect ourselves though. I know of the woman you are speaking of. She could go to a shelter, but did that before and it was a horrible experience for her. I hope she has a way to contact someone on DS so that we know if she is ok. She had to be out of her place on Saturday.
It is sad how neglected people in America are. Many countries take care of their own. We are supposed to be such a rich country and people go homeless and hungry. What there is to offer is substandard or over crowded.
At my age, I too am afraid I may be living on the street some day.I am not even eligible for healthcare at 62. I was a stay at home mom and get nothing. So I understand what this poor woman has to deal with. She felt her only option was to end her life.
