I don't understand why a clinic wouldn't give you that information so you can make an informed choice. Absent that data, are they guaranteeing you a certain number of eggs? And what happens if there aren't enough for a shared cycle?

FYI - you may find it interesting to look at Shady Grove's stats for shared cycles just to see what kind of detailed stats another clinic that offers shared cycles offers - they are one of the few clinics that posts very detailed stats of shared cycles - how many eggs each person received and outcomes. http://www.shadygrovefertility.com/donor-egg-success It shows the results and cancellation rates based on whether the patient was #1, #2 or #3 recipient in the share.

I would hesitate to move forward with a shared cycle unless you clinic can give you some details about their shared cycle outcomes, average number of eggs, etc. If she was a high responder, then it is very possible that she is a good candidate to be a donor for a shared cycle. Did they tell you why they can't share that prior cycle info?

i just got an email that the other couple declined due to medical/timing.not sure exactly what that means?? and they offering me a single cycle. my initial concern was a shared cycle would not give me enough options. i am worried that it might not work on first time as i have read that from others. i am 42 and would be happy with one baby or twins but once i am pregnant i dont think we interested in syblings. i cant keep going through this process!! financially, we can just make it with nothing $ to spare with a single.

I hunk it's odd thy they won't share her history. I did a shared cycle and I'm thrilled I did. Money wise it made more sense to do a shared and (god forbid) it didn't work, two shared cycles were only 2-3k less them a full cycle. My thoughts were if I didn't get pregnant right away, I would want to switch donors. With my shared cycle I believe I received 11 eggs and after all was said and done, transferred two and froze three excellent blasts. The fresh didn't work, but I'm now pregnant with twins from the FET.

well, we have decided to go with the single and accepted the offer! i am sooooo excited and cant wait to start! i met with donor cordinator yesterday and got to see her baby pics! she was pretty/cute and it put my mind at ease. and i feel comfortable about my dr office not sharing info on pervious amount of eggs retrieved. it leaves a bench mark that is no garuntee for me. but i do know that my RE(cornell) is one of the best and i trust they would not approve a donor to go another round if ther was a bad outcome the first time. they also mentioned she had leftover eggs that have been frozen. i hope and pray to share good news a few months down the road:)!! thanks for the input and congrats to all with success stories!!!

I went with a shared donor with shady grove for my first DE use and it was successful. I was ranked #2 and got 9 eggs in the end I had 3 good embryos implanted 2 froze 1 and had twins. It just depends on your feelings. I am glad you got your single donor and wish you the best of luck.
