Hello everyone. It seems that most women do not use this board but I wanted to post a little something. I know when I started out dealing with infertility I searched everywhere for information on older women getting pregnant. I am presently 41 and pregnant with my biological twin daughters after a FET in July. I went through 3 failed IUI's and 3 "fresh" IVF cycles resulting in chemical and ectopic pregnancies. It can be done. My friend just found out she is pregnant naturally with a man she is seeing and she is 40 going to be 41 in May. She has a 3 yr old daughter already. She was really never "infertile" but is pregnant at 40.
Don"t give up. I am praying these girls continue to grow and are born healthy. Best of luck!
thanks for the hope!!! i will be 42 in february. got pregnant in october with fet but had a miscarriage in november (after getting pregnant at 40 with iui but m/c also)...will try another fresh cycle in february so maybe i'll get a birthday present of a BFP? :-) we just looked into donor eggs and it's just too expensive for us at this point (we bought a multi-cycle plan through attain ivf that doesn't allow us to use donor eggs :-(). if this doesn't work maybe in a couple of years, when i'm 43 we can have saved enough money to try donor eggs. we'll see! when are you due? congratulations!!!!
Good luck to you! It is such a struggle but you have to believe! I am due inApril but we will most likely have them 2nd or 3rd week of March God willing. I wish more women would get on here and write. It is very helpful to hear success stories. Keep me posted with everything!
I did get pregnant at age 43 but had to go the donor egg route, however I have two friends who got pregnant naturally with their own eggs at an older age. My first friend got pregnant after suffering from secondary infertility at age 40 - she'd done IUI's and one IVF and then somehow managed to get pregnant naturally shortly thereafter. She has a 1 1/2 year old son now who is perfect. I have another friend who is currently 35 weeks pregnant at age 40 - she got pregnant naturally, but it did take her a year. There is hope! Good luck to you ladies!
I forgot to say congratulations St Gerard! Out of curiousity, how many embies did you transfer back and were they from your 41 year old eggs, or left over from a cycle when you were younger? Not judging, please don't take me wrong, I'm just curious.
Hello there YvonneKB! How are you? The eggs were from when I was 40 and 41. I put back "five" 5-day blasts. I don't take it as judging at all. We would have considered donor if it was not so expensive, I am tryig to get more women on here because a lot of women over 39 are trying to get pregnant and need support and inspiring stories. If you know of anyone that can share a story that would be great! Happy Holidays!
Hi All, I got an invite to join this group and I think it's a great idea! I'm in!
I have to say that it has been very helpful to connect with older mothers and mothers-to-be. There are so many anxieties about being older and we are made to feel like we are ancient in medical terminology. Terms like "advanced maternal age," "old eggs," etc. can be very hurtful. We are all just trying to be mothers.
I'm only guilty of waiting so long to think about having a baby. Having children simply was not on my radar when I was younger. I was working, trying to make my own way, career, etc. When I finally stopped and said, "I'm ready," I realized it wasn't an easy, sure-thing. I had no idea that nature would do this to me.
I am still trying to get a BFP that sticks and am so hopeful that this next go-round will give me my take home baby)ies.
I'm 42 - got pregnant naturally last Dec 2010, but miscarried the end of January. I had tried 7 IUIs and had decided on one more, but bam, I got pregnant. It was heartbreaking to have lost my baby, but I guess it just goes to show it can happen. My fertility doc said my eggs would make most 20 year olds jealous. I am unexplained infertility, so I hope 2011 is my year and it happens again. I'm not willing to mortgage the house to do more treatments and we have an adopted son, so...we shall see. Thanks for creating this group and I am soooo thrilled to see you are pregnant with twins!!!!!! xoxo
I am 40...have 3 grown children from previous marriage and none from this one....have done 2 rounds of IVF with my own eggs one in 2008 and most recently in early August...transferred 4 and managed to get pregnant, however miscarried triplets @ 8 weeks....am trying naturally with DHEA for a while...but it does happen.....
Hi everyone,
I am 41 yo going on to 42 in 3 months.... I have been ion the fertility journey with DH since 5 May 2009. I have bliateral tube block with a bicornuate uterus....We have gone through 3 Fresh cycles, pregnant on the last two, last year and both ended in miscarriages.... Hoping this year turns out better.........I have been feeling down this last few days....We have to start the next cycle but I have been just sooooooooooo scared....And then i get this angel necklace for my Christmas gift from my Nurse.....all day today when I thought of what will happen, I just touched the angel and prayed for the best.
I am going to need a lot of help to get through this next cycle...I feel devastated by the miscarriages, I do not think my heart can hold anymore grief.....have been advised to move on to donor with surrogate for the next
cycle , it is just expensive: $100000 for one cycle with 30% chance of success, not to mention trying to find and donor of South Asian descent!!!
Wishing all the best for 2011 to all
Hugs

Congratulations on twin girls:-) I couldn't be happier for you! Glad to see you have started a group for us devoated group. My story is just like everyone elses. I did things right. My first husband decided that he didn't want children. We did foster care to "test" his theory. Yep he was right - no kids for him. I went on to adopt the child placed with us. She is now 9! I have been trying to have a child since I was 29. I am now 41. I married again at 35 to a man with 3 natural children. He had male infertility and didn't know it. I did 6 IUI's 4 IVF's with two biochemicals. Then I did 3 IUI's with a donor. I have just completed my mock trial for a donor egg and sperm. Once again I am waiting. I hope to have a baby before I am 42 in October. I don't know why but that number seems like I am getting too old for a baby.....like everyine willing to do one more. Good luck to everyone!!!
I have not posted for a long time....but I have been invited by someone to join this group (thank you by the way) and so, I am happy to share my stories and hopes with all of you and lend encouragement when needed. I am 41 years old, and have been through a lot of heartache (as many of you have also). 5 years of treatments, tests, procedures and pain. 5 IUIs, 3 rounds of IVF with my own eggs, and one pregnancy that ended at 5 months (in 2009) ----losing a baby after trying for so long nearly destroyed me. I took a break for a year and now I am ready to move on to donor eggs which is looking like my best chance for a happy/health pregnancy. I'm hoping to do a cycle with donor eggs in the spring.
Good luck everyone, and anyone who wants to chat more feel free to contact me. I look forward to discussing various topics with the rest of you 'seasoned' moms-to-be. :)
Good luck to all of you in this group. I have something to add since I last posted here. I am 45 years old now and got pregnant naturally in December (was preggo when I last posted in this thread, but didn't know it yet). This is quite miraculous since I'd tried to get pregnant since I was 38 and had to do 2 IUI's and 5 IVF's (with the last one being donor egg) before getting pregnant before - it took me 5 years! Anyway, I am currently miscarrying right now, but I still am amazed that I was able to get pregnant naturally at my age and with my infertility history. If that can happen for me, I think you younger ladies have much better chances!
I have to add a little update here for what it's worth. Just like CherylSG, I too got pregnant naturally in December, 2010 but miscarried in January (so when I was last posting on this thread I was pregnant but didn't know it yet). Get this, I was (and still am) 45 years old when I got pregnant in December and that is after over 7+ years of infertility, 2 failed IUI's, 4 failed IVF's (w/ my own eggs) and I was finally able to have a child in December of 2009 but that was using donor eggs, so to actually get pregnant on my own (even though it only lasted for a short while) is definitely worth noting. I hope that helps to give some of you gals younger than I some hope.
