Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
I'm a 24 year old female who suffers with IBS-D for almost 12 years, and it's horrible. Every single day I suffer with the pain and it absolutely sucks.
When I was first diagnosed, they tried tons of different medications but nothing ever seemed to help. I was working full time and going to school full time and had to stop both because the pain was so bad and I would be in the hospital 5-7 times a month. Eventually, I was prescribed Tramadol (pain med) and it CHANGED MY LIFE. I kept my job, I went to nursing school, I had a life, etc. Now she wants me off that medication because it's not good to be on a pain med for the rest of your life, so I'm starting at stage one again.
But I wish you good luck and good health in your journey. I know it's next to impossible, but try not to stress too much over this because it will make things worse. Good luck to you!
