Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
Peppermint tea is a anti spasmodic and I know it helps me. They say rice and potato are good soluble fibre which is what we need apparently. I'm still struggling with the foods but am seeing a dietician who specialises in GI issues. It's not until the 25th of August but I'll gladly share anything I learn.
Sometimes for the pain over the bowel i put castor oil on an old cotton tea towel and nuke it for 90 seconds. I then heat my wheat bag (you could use a hot water bottle) and lay it over the bowel area for 30 minutes. It does offer some relief. Make sure if you do this to put some plastice over the cotton fabric.
hope some of this helps.
As for diet, try to stay hydrated and make sure you are getting in some electrolytes. That might help with some of the cramping as well.
Good luck and best wishes!
