Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
For those in the US, please also note that this treatment is not FDA approved and will not, in most cases, be covered by your insurance due to the fact that it is still very much experimental and long-term effects are still unknown.
Home therapies or fecal enemas also are strongly not recommended due to the transfer of bacteria that can occur. Due to improper screening of donor matter, complications that have arose do to the use of this therapy include not only additional c. diff relapses, but in some cases the transfer of other serious infectious, including HIV.
