Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.
I am helping a friend who was diagnosed with IC a few years ago, and has been struggling with malnutrition and B vitamin deficiencies because of the lackluster diet that she has settled on.
I was surprised to hear that she has no urologist/specialist in IC that follows her regularly to oversee her management and to follow her symptoms/self treatment. In fact, the urologist she last saw gave her a sheet with dietary recs and then told her she doesn't have to come back! And now she has a few severe vitamin deficiencies that are causing her awful problems.
Who do you see that helps you with your IC? Is it rare to have a urologist that is "interested" in following you long term? How did you find someone to help you?

If anyone knows a good urologist/urogynecologist in LA, I would be grateful for a recommendation. My friend lives close to USC and UCLA.
