Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

have ic for years now uti for three weeks worst pain ever pain dr to do nerve test next week. as the day goes by the pain increases tens unit helps somewhat pelvic is numb now i don't know why can any one give me some help[ or advice

I'm sorry to hear you are in the worst pain ever. I hope by now your nerve test is over and there is something to learn from it. Have you had bladder instillations yet? Have you tried the IC diet for help? Does your doctor specialize in IC, or can he or she recommend that you go where there is a specialist? An actual UTI in an IC bladder would seem to be the worst pain ever! I hope you get help soon. Best of luck.

70% of the time IC is accompanied by chronic pelvic pain. My started in the lower pelvic area. It is hard to identify it as cramping because it feels similar to a UTI. I too used a tens unit for awhile.

I had physical therapy which included many exercises accompanied by deep breathing and kegels all to help the pelvic floor.

I agree following the IC diet is critical found on the IC Network site.

There are also many wonderful books to read. I have read them all trying to understand what was happening to me.

started instillations again have had two so far doctor put camera in bladder and looked around but there was nothing unusual. am having nerve test today will see what that does.
