Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

i was diagnosed 18 months ago with IC. i have pain alot.....one day will be just fine then the next it is hard to walk, sit, do anything really. today is one of those days!!! i knew when i got up this morning it was going to be a bad day....and is has only gotten worse as the days goes on.
my question is this.....of course i have the terrible cramping and burning pain but i hurt so bad in my vagina that i can hardly stand it. i have noticed the last several times that i had a bad day or a flare i had really awful pain in my vagina!!! it is driving me crazy. i have soaked in hot water a couple of times today and it helps for about 30 minutes to an hour.
has anyone else had this pain in their vagina? what do you do for it?

Well am .not sure what to say..but I have pain in the lower back.between my legs and above the pubic bone.. I have found that alot of heat helps.. Am not sure how to help since I am a male..but have found that sometimes cold helps..in any case in here if you need to talk..sry I couldn't. Be more help

I use cold packs in that area, it helps the pain and burning. My dr also prescribe compound suppositories, they help alot. They are kind of expense but they are worth it, so the pain will stop. The ABG cream help sometimes too. Hope that helps , hang in there a painless day may be on it way

sounds a bit like vulvadynia. if you haven't done so, you may want to google it to see if your symptoms are similar. many IC patients have it and I hear it's very very painful.

It may be pelvic floor cramping. I take muscle relaxer all the time.

I have also found Epson salt baths very helpful. I buy 12 lbs at Costco for 7 bucks. 2 cups in a super duper hot bath. Epson salts have magnesium which helps in the contraction and expansion of muscles.

I had that as well but my Dr told me about making a tea which stopped the sharp, stabbing pain in it's tracks within 24 hours. I was desperate too. He told me to take a bunch of celery and a bunch of parsley, right from the grocery store (clean it), and throw it into a soup pot filled with water. I then boil it until I can easily put a fork through the celery. I then turn off the heat, remove the celery and parsley and strain the 'brew' into a sturdy pitcher. I then drink my first cup of hot tea, and then I put the pitcher into the frig to cool off. I drink one cup or small glass in the morning and 1 cup at night. That's it! Try it (as silly as it sounds) and see if it works for you. 24 hours is all it took for me.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLIES!!. I did get some epsom salts and try the hot bath and i got it really hot!!! i did get some relief at least for a while. i am going to try the celery tea next i just bought the celery so i haven't made the tea yet....it sounds so weird but I don't care at this point. The frustrating thing is it won't hurt for days then it will hurt so bad it drives me crazy. My urologist told me that there is no rhyme or reason for the pain and flairs so we do the best we can. So it is a blessing to have a site like this to share and get ideas from. Again thank you so much.
