That's a bad doctor, and I'm guessing a greedy one. He'd rather you keep coming to him and filing up his bank account rather than truelly helping you. Find a new doctor asap!

Sorry that you had to experience having an idiot for a doctor! I would find another doctor, if you have a name of a doctor you can actually check what other patients have experienced by checking them on www.vitals.com. You might want to google a Urogynecologist in your area.

I wish could find a new doctor. It's so hard around here to find a Primary Care doc that really cares. Everyone I ask for a referral tells me that they deal with the same stuff. I'm going to try that site, thanks.
I think this doc is greedy plus he's an alpha male who acts like he knows best and I'm just a stupid female.
I put one of the pain patches on my chest as instructed and it came off already in the shower. It's supposed to stay on no matter what, so I'm already aggravated. I just read all the warnings about this patch and it's scary. It's called the Fentanyl transdermal system.
I feel like a train wreck :(

I hope you know about the IC diet, I found it very helpful and also baking soda for flare-ups, usually an hour later it worked really well for me. The Fentanyl patch is a really good , really strong pain-killer, so I hope you can work that out. I take Tylenol 3 for my bad flare-ups. Are you still on Elmiron? Your doctor sounds very rude, I hope you can get another one. Hugs, isabelle1954

The Fentanyl pain patch works great for me but it is for someone who has already been taking other strong pain killers such as hydrocodone. I had trouble keeping the first one on also. My husband and I figured out that I had to get all lotions,perfumes, etc . off of the spot before applying so he scrubbed application spot down with alcohol before applying. Also I put mine on my back up at the top right below my t-shirt line so that no one can see it and my pharmacist said that was fine.It does need to go on the back or the chest, though. I wish you luck. It has really helped me.

Also sorry about your PCP. Mine is just like yours so I don't ever see him any more. I am still searching for a PCP who is familiar with IC. Good luck. I feel your pain.

Thanks for all the positive feedback regarding the pain patch. I'm on my second one and I still can't say if it's working or not. I'm so groggy all the time. I can tell that the worst flare pain is gone but the throbbing is still there :(

I'm not so good about following the IC diet. I did stop drinking tea and I'm more careful about certain "bad: foods. I'm still taking Elmiron too. Can't say that's been a miracle cure either *sigh*

I dont' like the "high" I'm getting from the Fentanyl, it makes me groggy. I'm supposed to up the dosage in 4 months if I'm not pain free. I don't know if the side affects will get worse or stay the same. so confusing...
