Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

Went to the doctor yesterday, my pain just got too bad. Anyways come to find out I have another infection, I am worried cause I just had a staph UTI , I mean it was only like a couple weeks ago, and to already have another infection, they are sending it off to make sure it is not another staph infection or anything else, he also kept asking me questions about my kidneys. Anyways, has anyone else had to deal with infections over and over even though you are under going treatments and are on all kinds of the meds? Do I have a good reason to be concerned, is this normal? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Maybe the entire infection didn't complete go away, just the majority of the symptoms abated? I'm so sorry to hear that :(:(:(

No, it was cleared up, I had to take 2 rounds of antibiotics. I took the first and then found out it was a staph UTI so they had to put me on a stronger one, plus they sent the urine off again once I was done with them and it showed it was cleared up.....Honestly I wish that would of been the case.......

IC flares mimic UTI;s when thats not really the problem...did your urologist tell you it was a UTI or a fam dr? I have been told several times I had a UTI and then when I follow up with my urologist, he says no you didnt, and shows me the test results...i no longer allow any other drs to tell me i have a UTI or give me anitbiotics...

It was my specialist, I don't even really bother with the regular doctors anymore, except for normal illnesses and my thyroid. They tested it there and it was full of nitrates, plus they sent if off, should be finding out today if it just a normal UTI or another staph one, plus he is concerned for some reason about my kidneys. I honestly just don't feel good, I have been battling this for so long, and dealing with the weekly treatments for a while now so I don't know maybe my body is just worn out I don't know. All I do know is I don't feel good, I feel unhealthy and I am wore out. Ugh, I hate this disease...........

I agree with Tracy a lot even though I know you said you had your specialist give you the news about your UTI. What do you eat? Have you changed your diet? Do you exercise? I had UTI's for a year straight, took multiple antibiotics for it and poof it just one day stopped. No rhyme or reason. Now however, years later I have this horrible disease called IC. You have to rid yourselves of these UTI's to avoid all the antibiotics, that is what is making you feel so bad. I haven't had once since, all of my pain, frequency is from this stupid IC. I don't take any medicine (personal choice) no treatments, just some supplements, PT and acupuncture. I eat about 70 % raw (awesome if you want to lose weight!!). I am NOT better, I still feel like crap a lot of days but it is strictly my IC and that I know. I am putting good things in my body and trying to heal from the inside out (takes a lot of time and sux cause I am not a patient person). You should go on www.icfriendsning.com. It is a fantastic support group and the founder talks a lot about healthy living, she is highly educated in our disease. All the best to you, I hope to see happier posts in the future from all of us!

to ameburch- I follow the IC diet very strict, only on occasions will I allow things I am not supposed to eat, and then I take some prelief. I do yoga, and relaxing exercises, there are stretches I do for the pelvic pain, which when I don't feel up to doing I can tell a diff. in my muscles. I try very hard to live healthy and keep healthy things in my system, I have looked and researched so many diff. things to try, eat or whatever in desperate attempts to get relief. There are a couple other things I am going to try . Right now I am waiting on the results to see what my culture shows. Thanks for the advice and stuff, I will check into that website you suggested. Thanks to all of you!!!
