Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group

Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

I mentioned using them in another thread and I'm wondering if anyone else is using them and if they got help.
I've read that they are basically morphine in a patch form. Which is scary. I'm taking a low dose, 25 mcg, and I felt really sick the first couple of patches. But the really bad IC pain went away. Now I'm feeling the burning again so I'm guessing I might need the dosage upped. I'm afraid of the whole thing but I'm also so sick of IC.

Is that all your on for pain?
I want to ask my doctor I would like to try the Fentanyl patches. I also heard someone on this site talking about a pain suppository that works really well for kidney spasms. I have just about had it with the spasms in my bladder and kidneys. I was supposed to have a bladder treatment today, but had to cancel because the nurses were too busy. I have an appointment tomorrow instead. I will ask about the kind of treatments I can do at home.

Be careful these are a slippery slope. Very addicting and cause severe sedation at higher levels. Even when disposed of they can be dangerous to kids and animals if they get a hold of them.
I have seen many get hooked on these, not pretty.
I understand the pain and wanting relief, wish there were more choices for us.

Fentanyl Pain patches work great for me. I know they are addicting but I could not make it without them(also they are not constipating! Hallelujah!) I have had to up my pain patch from 25 to 50 but my doctor said he did not want to go any higher. They are helping me a lot.

I'm afraid of getting addicted but then I think about how sick the side affects make me and I figure I got nothing to worry about there. Kelly, do they make you sick to your stomach? Make you tired then manic? It's exhausting just dealing with everything....

I have used the Fentanyl patches as well and they helped me, but they are very dangerous as you have heard. I understand not having many options for pain relief.

Kelly, were you able to get them in generic?? I had tried another type of patch I cant remember the name of it but they were very expensive!

The patch was called Flector and it was expensive and did not work!

I'm starting to get "break through" pain UGH! So the doc wants me to use 2 patches instead of 1 every three days. I hope to get some relief soon
