I don't have IBS or at least they haven't said anything, although there are times I wonder. I do however think that it probably would effect the IC being that everything else seems to irritate it, I never in my life thought sooooooo many things could upset the bladder, oh how I hate this disease. Good luck in finding relief and answers.....

i do have ibs and i take fiber suppliments and buy foods with whole grains and extra fiber...and yes it can def stir up the ic...i try preemptive measures lol

I've had some bouts of IBS and I hate it. I wonder if all of this hot mess put together bakes up IC pain. UGH!!! I'm with you Kendra, that so many things upset the bladder.

I have had IBS since I was a child, the painkillers I have to take daily just to function make my IBS even worse. I am not to the point yet where I can say what makes my IC worse or better because it's been non-stop for me. Another "issue" I'm in so much pain I am not working out and I am so nauseous from the pain that I am not eating right and sometimes not at all, so definitely not getting the right things in my body each day inevitably making IBS worse and if this is correct IC worse...it seems like a viscous circle, this is interesting thank you for sharing!

I think it could be the pressure of the bowel movement. It makes sense to my brain that if you had a build up inside of you it could put pressure on your bladder.

I have had IBS since I was very young as well. I am having a horrible flare up right now. One so intense that I could not believe the pain as I have had it under control for months. My doctor, unfortunately, is only in his office near me on Monday's and Friday's so to get a treatment would be WONDERFUL about now! I know that the reason my doctor for my IBS prescibes my a low dose of anti-depressant is due to the lack or seratonin in the intestines as with IBS you usually have loose stools...and often so you flush it out. I am not sure if you are on anti-depressants for IC..but I am using mine for both conditions. My son, sadly, is a drug addict. He has really got me so upset lately I feel my flare is strictly from stress. He is now facing going to jail for 6 months and may not be at home for Christmas. This has been such a sad past 8 years dealing with my son's addictions and watching him go from an innocent 14 year old boy to now a 22 year old shell of the man he should/would have been. Please pray for my son and my family. Also, I could use a lil prayer too as I am really suffering both physically and emotionally. God Bless you ALL!

I'm so sorry about your son. I grew up with an alcoholic/drug addict brother, so I know how much is hurts to live with someone like that. My son was arrested for drunk driving while in the Navy and they have very harsh punishments for that. I feel your pain :)

I take anti-depressants for a lot of things. My sad childhood for one. Darn that brother of mine. It took him a long time to straighten up, he's almost 60 now. I pray that your son gets the help he needs. Just keep loving him.

I get IBS when I'm really stressed. The IC is just one more pain to deal with UGH!!!

For my IBS I take Magnesium a few times a week you can take a little to have a regular BM or you can take extra and use it like a laxative but the difference is any laxative, stool softener etc that I have ever taken gives me the worst stomach cramps and the Magnesium does not. I have always used Peter Gillham Natural Calm Magnesium and have family members and friends who use it as well. When I first started it they didn't have different flavors now they do, which makes it much easier to drink I take it at night before bed. I have tried all the flavors and personally I like the Organic Lemon the best.

With all good health products it's pricey usually $35-$42 for 16 oz but I get it from Iherb.com and get it for around $21. You can find it at health food stores as well but you will definitely pay more than online my go to for healthy supplements are Iherb - Lucky Vitamin and My Natural Market. I also take a probiotic which not only is for over all health but does help with my IBS. I am partial to Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics, it's pricey but worth the money. Hope that helps you ladies. IBS is something I have had since a childhood so I have found over the years through trial and error what works best for me.
