Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

It could be from the "sugar free" candy or gum that your eating. Any thing sugar substitute is not recommended for us I.C. sufferers.
I eat regular cough drops with menthal and i'm not sure if that brings the pain on. I too am a mint lover, when I told my nutritionist that I eat mints all the time she said that sugar is not good when you suffer from pain since it adds more inflamation. She said to sip on mint tea. Not sure if thats helpful for you. Sorry your having pain! Hope you feel better soon.
