Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

Does anyone in here have them??Do they help and how often do you have them.A nurse in my urologists office told me I should look into getting them...My urologist office doesnt do them,....

They worked wonderfully for me! I got immediate relief from the first session if fact. My uro/gyno/nero does them once a week for 6 weeks. I haven't had them in over a year since I quit having sex and I finally figured out what foods cause problems (I've had IC for 5 years). Some people do them on themselves but I'm a big chicken when it comes to that! Best of luck to you and I wish you good health

Hi ~
I also think they are the best things for immediate relief. That plus Urelle tablets (prescription from doctor). Instillations are intimidating at first, but Lidocain gel helps the tube slip in with some temporary numbing help. Having the medicine put directly into the bladder is like having a skinned knee and putting medicine directly on it -- it is soothing and comforting and healing. I am so thankful for a wise Urologist who taught me how to do it myself so I can take care of me without having to make an appointment. Not as scary to do myself either. Hope it helps!
