Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.
i am having the exact experience right now. i have a really bad stinging sensation in the bladder area that is painful and annoying. quality of life is virtually gone. This experience has brought on severe anxiety which i have been told can cause IC pain. i had a very bad experience with a urologist several years ago which left me with bad memories. went to urologist in nov 2017 and the bad memories came flooding back which i think triggered my anxiety and the bladder pain. all tests done show that there is nothing wrong
I am not sure what is happening, but all replays I get on this daily strength site start out being typed over my post, which makes it almost impossible to read part of the reply. Did you respond that anxiety is a trigger for your bladder pain? That is very interesting to me as my husband also has a lot of anxiety issues. He has bipolar also and suffers with depressions. I have felt like it is all tied in together, but all doctors he has seen have been stumped as what to do for him. His pain is so bad he is losing the will to live. I am desperate to find some answers for him.
have learned a couple of things since my last post to you. First i learned that i was fighting 2 separate but related problems. First problem was that it was found that i had extremely tight pelvic floor muscles which was contributing to my pain. i found a physical therapist who is helping me learn to relax those muscles. My second problem was discovered to be something called acute bladder inflammation which is something that was discovered after months of my complaining through a urine test for bladder cancer. According to doctors the inflammation can be caused by stress and anxiety if you have a sensitive bladder like i do but there is nothing that can be done to fix the problem except lots of water and time. i will say that the physical therapy did help with the pain to the point that i can now somewhat function. i have good days and i have bad days.
