Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group

Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

has anyone had a urodynamic test to see how much the bladder is empting....if so is it painful

Many years ago I did, something like it anyway. When they were trying to figure out what was wrong with my bladder. That was long before my IC diagnosis and I haven't had one done since. I have not heard of anybody doing those for IC.

I did have surgery done recently and I was very worried about the catheter. But they did a great job and I had no problems or pain.

As long as you have good doctors and good nursing care you will be fine.

I had it a while back. Annoying? Very. But you can get through it. Mine was done by a group of nurses that handle this. No doctor was in sight.

I had it done as well. The catheter is uncomfortable, as we all know, but the procedure is quick and you'll get through it without too much discomfort!
