hi Proverb......i'm wondering the same...... I am also white late 40's and in relationship with a younger black men. I am giving everyone in the world a reason to stare because we could not be more different.....tall/short, old /young, black/white, christian/Muslim.....we have been in a relationship for 1 1/2 years, but for the most part a long distance relationship. When I was in his country i felt very accepted, but now he will soon come here and I am afraid that he will not get the same from my country. I guess I notice more because i am in intreracial relationship, I wonder the same as you everytime I see a mixed couple. I don't think it is the 40's thing, mostly just people that are interested or racist.....When I see and look it is because I am happy for the couple to find love that conquers all.....Love does not know color..but it is difficult for everyone to learn that. Hello, I just kind of stumbled in here, and read your question. I, well I just wanted to let you know that as far as I can tell it does not matter what age you are. I am of a Native/European decent, of course I favor my European heritage, and I have been with my fiancee, who is Native/African decent, since I was nineteen, nearly six years now. We see the same things when we go out. People look at us no differently because we are younger. Black women always give me the evil eye, and white men do the same to him, and of course there are the comments. So no, I can't imagine that your age is cherry on top for them.

This world is just basically weird and I am being kind in saying this.Some Christians are prejudice against Jews but Jesus was jewish!.I hear attacks on Obama being black but people forget he is half white!
All so stupid.

Maybe I just have very thick skin or am real dense when it comes to how people look at me but I've been in several relationships with black or native american men and I really never felt uncomfortable when we were out in public and I've never had anyone say nasty things to or about us in my hearing.
In the area where I live now my daugher has several friends who are mixed race and none of them have every had an issue with people not accepting them. THAT is how it should be IMO, you love who you love and that should be no one elses business

when i see older IR couples i look in awe and appreciation wondering how long they have been together as it wasnt as excepted in their time and i wonder to myself the trials they must have went through to be together.

All my past relationships I have been in interracial relationships. I do have an 18 year old with a white man ( I am white too ) but all my other boyfriends have been black ...no matter what. My ex-husband is black... and our two beautiful biracial children were brought into this world. They are now 11 and 13 and neither of them really have suffered anything, they have all sorts of friends from all over.
Me, I am dating an Indian .. ( West Indies ) ... I don't see people looking at us, or my kids or anything. Sure its are you two together when we are online together... But you know its a natural thing to say because I would say it too ... I work for a MD's office. I would not look at it as any sort of disrespect.
Its the 2000's people have to learn to deal with it... its no longer the olden days where black and white could not even talk to one another. And the word :"Colored" was popular.
