We are guilty of that. My husband is Jewish and I am not. We raise our daughters by observing all the Jewish holidays as well as the Christian ones. The only concession we make is that the Christian holidays we celebrate we do so in a secular way. So Christmas is not about the birth of Christ, it is about the joy of giving, a tree and Santa Claus. Easter is not about the resurrection, it is about easter eggs, hunts and chocolate bunnies. I was not raised in any organized religion so I feel so affinity or loss. My husband was raised Jewish, went to Jewish day school, was bar mitzvahed etc. But his celebration of the jewish holidays is more to honor the family traditions than from any religious pull. In fact, I have asked repeatedly if we should start our older daughter in Hebrew school and if he wants her to have a bat mitzvah and he says no.

I like any traditions that emphasize family and sharing... so it's all good to me.

My mom and i are Jewish but my dads side isnt so even though they're divorced now, my and my mom celebrate all Jewish holidays and Christmas, but not the religious side, i used to(still do really) feel so left out when all my friends are talking about christmas and stuff. i think that's mainly why we "celbrate" it.

i am in a relationship w/ a muslim guy, and we are planning to bring up ur kids celebrating both religious celebrations. i believe tht there is only one god, n ppl call in diff names...well thts my way of thinking, so its easy for me to accept other religions as long as the main ideas comes to the goodness of heart and character...
i am looking for support n advice frm others though, coz both our families are against but we cant hv a seperate life (we tried tht, to mk our families happy, but dint wrk)...so any advice is helpful..thnks

Well, right now me and my fiance have decided that the kids will be brought up celebrating the holidays in a Christian/secular way. In other words, they will be taught about the Christian and secular sides of all holidays. When they become of age to understand, AND they show an intrest, I will teach them the Wiccan holidays too. I believe that teaching them anything of the Wiccan faith too young will confuse them. They do go to Christian church too- but it's a contemporary, non-denominational one. (and the pastor knows that I'm Wiccan and is still nice to me- great guy! :D)

My boyfriend and I have discussed children as well and have decided that we will teach them about both of our religions. I'm grew up Baptist and he was raised Jehovah Witness.

However, they will celebrate holidays with me until they are old enough to understand and decide for themselves which religion is for them.

I'm muslim and my wife is Christian. My major holiday is The Month Of Ramadhan.. I fast but my wife and daughter don't, but they respect my belief very much. I do celebrate my wife holidays with her to the best of my ability. To believe in God things should be a lot better not worser. I hope this helped..... Peace......
