Keep us posted on what your psych says.
1. No caffeine. Period. Ugh. Even a 6 am cup of Starbucks decaf makes a difference. It may take a few days to wean.
2. Keep blood sugar stable all day! Eat 20 grams of protein per meal plus a starchy side and as many veggies as you can stand. Your body cannot make tryptophan which makes melatonin without protein. Don't eat anything after 530 pm.
3. Try to get 15 minutes of bright sunshine in your eyes without contacts or sunglasses.
4. Download the headspace app and do 10 minutes of meditation per day--not before bed. You will learn to control your brain if you do this. Do it in the morning or afternoon. It's too stressful to try to learn something new at bedtime.
5. Take .5-1 mg of melatonin sublingually at bedtime. Don't take more. Some of my worst nights were on too much melatonin.
I will pray for you tonight. This is not permanent! Please keep us posted!
