Regarding insomnia, sounds like you do sleep, just not at your preferred time. That is fixable, and it's in some ways really no different than adjusting to jet lag, something thousands of people do successfully every day. Just a matter of adjusting your circadian rhythm.
Try setting and keeping a consistent sleep schedule. Particularly important is a wake time in the morning when you want to get up. Minimize or eliminate any daytime napping. Fill your days as much as possible with both physical and mental activity. By tiring yourself out during the day, you will tend to sleep better at night.
