I was on it for a good 5 years. It was orginally prescribed for anxiety as needed, which was about everyday. It never gave me the sleepy feeling, however, it did give me a feeling of calm. In the beginning it was prescribed by my psychiatrist but then I had stopped seeing him for a good 5 years. I also suffer from kidney problems, so I asked my specialist if he could write the script since i had at that time, stopped seeing my psychiatrist and he obliged. Being a military dependent and Dr change every 2 to 3 years, my new specialist didn't want to continue. I tried to have my primary prescribe but they rather me up the Trazadone seeing I have been on it for forever and try ambien than to give the Klonopin. I understand they were worried about dependence but I never had that problem. To make a long winded story short I beleive it to be a very good mellowing agent and for some a sleep aide. However, it is a benzo (I beleive) so if this is successful in giving you some much needed rest for a few weeks, you may want to explore some other options with your Dr. He may even bring it up first. All in all I would recommend it. In my opinion it does do wonders.
