Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. People with insomnia complain of difficulty falling or staying asleep, which results in significant impairment of daytime functioning. Insomnia is categorized as transient (shorter than one week), short-term (one to three weeks) or chronic (longer than three...
But maybe it would help for you to see the big picture here. Yes you can choose to push the mad button, but what good does it do you? In fact, stressing about sleep only feeds the problem. When you're feeling sleep deprived not stressing can be especially hard I know, but making the effort to just let it go and focus on better things can pay off with better sleep.
You are right, there are things we cannot control that can disrupt our sleep. But there are many many things we can control.
I'm extremely tense right now because of school. All it feels like I do is work! Work out , Go to School, Do homework. I'm also getting very angry at myself because several of my workout days have gotten canceled because I've been too busy! I'm always been really hard on myself. Then Hardly any relaxation and leisure time available is fueling my frustration(and then when I go fishing like yesterday I get behind on things and then I get more stressed and its just a vicious cycle).
It's just so hard and frustrating meeting the demands of a busy schedule when you're struggling to sleep or get woken up after you were sleeping. Fueling this feeling is when I can't sleep, get woken up when I don't want to, and lots of inconveniences that have came up with school. Just feels like my life is all work.
It's also just hard adjusting to this new schedule, things haven't gone according to plan(books and supplies I had to order are arriving late) , shopping for things I need for the classes is taking really long (and then I still have to do the homework,), and then . Then of course is the sleep troubles, frustrations and stress that come with doing all of this stuff when not feeling refreshed..
Things will get better though...But I'm going to start waking up at 7 instead of 8 and then this will eliminate a lot of the "danger" zone for potentials of waking me up up. Then even if it happens, It'll be close to 7 anyways. I'm also going to start working out right when I wake up that way it gets done no matter what. It's going to be extremely difficult cause as everyone has heard, I complain that I am a very slow waker upper and never feel refreshed right away. Hopefully I'll be more settled in after this week.
