I think you're doing the right thing by working with your doc. You might consider a referral to an MD who specializes in sleep and can complement your pharmacology with non-drug sleep improvement methods like CBT sleep training.
It would not be at all surprising if you have considerable overlap between medical issues like depression apnea, and non-medical issues like bad sleep habits and excess worry about the idea of sleep. Both can be effectively countered with CBT sleep training. hang in there.
