Your post suggests anxiety, something all of us have to at least some extent. Have you been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder? Regardless, there are many ways to control anxiety that don't involve substances of any kind. This is what you might consider pursuing, as it represents a permanent and sustainable solution.
You might also consider the possibility of sleep state misperception, which is very common, and which your post also suggests. Are you logging sleep in any way or just sort of guessing? Studies consistently show insomniacs underestimate by at least an hour OR MORE how much sleep they get per night. That perception no doubt only fuels more worry and adds to the problem.
You might ask your doc for a referral to either an MD who specializes in sleep, or to a counselor who uses CBT sleep training methods. CBT will give you substance-free methods to help improve sleep, they are considered the gold standard for treating insomnia. Good luck.
