First, you answered your own question in the second to last paragraph. Yes, a routine works, especially with sleep. Your sleep system thrives on regularity, especially a consistent wake time which has the profound effect of both regulating your circadian rhythm and synchronizing it to your homeostatic sleep drive.
Second, you are taking thorazine, a potent anti-psychotic drug. Not sure what psychiatric issues you're dealing with, but it would not be surprising if those issues are affecting your sleep.
I know your from AUS but I can't imagine thorazine available without a doctor's prescription. So my suggestion would be to work closely with your doctor, because any drugs or even supplements you take probably have a significant effect on your sleep. Your doc can help you come up with a coherent strategy for better sleep.

i have been on anti psychotic pills and they made me sleep, drowsy all day and sleep more at night. i was on a lower dose of zyprexa and i always slept well on that medication.i didnt have psychiatric issues but the half of 2.5 might help you sleep
dont take higher doses of zyprexa because that causes weight gain
